Accessibility Statement
We want anyone to be able to use this site to get a plumber, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard on its own, voice control, or a phone held close to their face. This page says plainly what we have done, what we have not checked, and how to tell us when something does not work.
What this site does
- Body text starts at 18 pixels rather than the usual 16, and grows if you make text larger in your browser or phone settings. Nothing is set in fixed pixel sizes that would refuse to scale.
- Anything you tap is at least 48 pixels across — larger than the 44 the guidelines ask for, because a lot of this site is read one-handed in a hurry.
- Every colour combination on the site has been measured against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast thresholds and passes. The orange call-to-action reaches 4.88:1 against white, which clears the requirement for ordinary text, not just for large text.
- Each page has one main heading, one main landmark, and a "skip to content" link as the first thing a keyboard reaches.
- Every form field has a real label attached to it. When something is wrong, the page says so in words next to the field — never by turning it red and leaving you to work it out.
- The service request form is an ordinary form. It works with JavaScript switched off or broken, and it keeps the photo you attached if something else needs correcting.
- Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers, so nothing is read out twice. Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the site honours it. There is no autoplaying video, no carousel, and no pop-up asking you to subscribe.
How far that goes, and where it stops
This site was built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at level AA, and we assessed it ourselves on September 21, 2026. We describe it as partially conformant, which means most of it meets that standard and some of it has not been checked thoroughly enough for us to promise.
We are telling you what we have not done, because a statement that only lists successes is not much use to somebody deciding whether they can rely on this site:
- No independent accessibility audit has been carried out. Everything above is our own assessment.
- We have not tested the site with screen readers or other assistive software, so we cannot yet say how well it works with the one you use.
- Some pages are built with a visual page builder, and parts of the markup it produces are not under our direct control.
- We do not yet do anything special for a high-contrast preference beyond the contrast the site already has.
Tell us when something does not work
Call (661) 233-7719. A person answers, and you do not need to explain it in technical terms — "I cannot get the form to send" is enough for us to go and find it.
Or email hello@compass-plumbing.com, if that suits you better.
You can also send it through the service request form. Tell us which page, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. We will reply, and we will fix what we can.
